The Skriker

City Garage is proud to present this extraordinary new play from acclaimed British playwright Caryl Churchill in its Los Angeles premiere.

The play, combining English folk tales with modern urban life, follows the Skriker, "a shape-shifter and death portent, ancient and damaged" in its search for love and revenge as it pursues two young women to London, changing its shape at every new encounter. Along with the Skriker comes a host of creatures from the underworld: Rawheadandbloodybones, the Kelpie, the Green Lady, the Spriggan, Annie Greenteeth, the Black Annis, and more, until the whole country is swarming with enticing and angry creatures that have burst forth from the dark recesses of our suppressed imaginations.

Caryl Churchill has been hailed by The Times as "a dramatist who must surely be amongst the best half-dozen now writing." She is the author of some twenty plays including Cloud Nine, Top Girls, Serious Money, and Mad Forest, all seen and admired the world over.
